“The drone ATC (air targeted traffic controller) will be termed UTM (unmanned site visitors management) and it will collaborate with the manned site visitors administration, which is staying dealt with presently as a sovereign purpose by the Airports Authority of India (AAI),” reported Amber Dubey, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation.

The AAI, which works below the ministry, manages all manned plane functions in the Indian airspace. A passenger plane commonly flies at a height of all around 30,000 ft.

“The airspace beneath 1,000 feet is decreased airspace and it would be the most important playground of drones. For that, we could have a procedure of personal ATCs, which would be managed by non-public operators,” Dubey said at a session organised by business system FICCI at Aero India 2021.

“It could be a governing administration agency or a non-public agency, it is some thing that would evolve,” he added.
